ARTIST STATEMENT: I really wanted to try out different contrast and lightings in these photos, so in each photo I changed the contrast and the lighting to hopefully brighten up and darken up the photo, to create a different feeling from the original photo and "fix" the photo a bit.

I used light room to brighten up the photo, to hopefully bring some more light to my facial features, then I moved the edited photo to photoshop, where I input two layers, changed the second layer to black and white, then erased my face, to show some color. I tried to make the background monochrome and make my facial features pop out.

In light room, I first got rid of the tiny outlets around the room, hopefully canceling all the distractions of the photo. I made the lights a little brighter. I also used a lot of contrast for my photo to make it darker because I really wanted it to be a dark silhouette, and to draw the focus towards the silhouette in the bright light.

For this photo. I really wanted to focus on the sky because I felt like the sky in the original photo was too light and had so much yellow going on, so I wanted to bring out the purples and blues. So I contrasted the colors and deepened the sky color, then I sharpened the trees and also darken the trees to hopefully fit the new photo better. Lastly, I cropped the photo to cancel all the distractions around the drawing.

In light room, I got rid the outlets and the big clock in the corner to hopefully get rid of the distractions. Then I straightened out the photo and cropped it, lastly I darkened the silhouette by the slightest bit to draw attention towards the silhouette.

I didn’t do as much editing for this particular photo because I felt like the chandelier was already super pretty, antique like and luminous, but I did brighten up the photo and tried to make the chandelier clearer and sharper. (I'm aware it's still blurry) I also decided to crop the photo because I didn’t like the negative space in the original photo and I wanted the main focus to be the orbs of the chandelier.

Artist Statement: My photo project is a representation of the things most important to me. For me, my hobbies and family members are super important to me. Figure skating and dancing is a really big part of my life, they’ve really shaped how I am today. I also find my friends and families to also be very important because they’ve always supported me and helped me through hard times and most importantly, make me laugh. Figure skating, dance, and my family is a huge part of my life. Lastly, I also really like taking pictures of mushrooms.
